Thus Says the Lord
The Lord told Ezekiel to go to the people and tell them, "Thus says the Lord God." That way, whether they listened or not, they would know a prophet had been among them. (Ezekiel 2:4,5) For Him to do that Ezekiel had to stay sensitive to the Lord and communicate the message the Lord delivered to him. However, for us it is much easier and just as important.
Today, we hear all types of information all of the time. We are bombarded through the Internet, Radio, TV, books, magazines, and by word of mouth from others who have been listening to all types of media. However, none of that is as important as hearing directly from the Lord. We should be His prophets today, delivering His words directly to those around us. It is easy for us, because we have the Bible and all types of reference books to help us find what the Bible says about a particular issue. Therefore, we need to be telling people, "Thus says the Lord," all of the time. It is so much more effective and true than our own opinions or information we get from other sources. Then, when we deliver the Word of God, the Spirit can speak to their hearts, and they will know a prophet has been with them, whether they decide to listen to the Lord or not.
Tomorrow, I intend to read Ezekiel 3-5.
