An Occasion of Stumbling
Sin causes us to stumble. Even though we are believers, and we know the Lord Jesus personally, when we sin, it hurts our relationship with Him. We stumble in our faith, and we cannot find satisfaction in anything, because our only lasting satisfaction comes from the Lord. That is what Ezekiel told the people of his day, and it holds true for us today. (Ezekiel 7:19)
In our society we have a lot of money, especially compared to the rest of the people in the world. We can go and buy food and other things to satisfy us. However, there comes a time in our lives, when we might as well throw our money into the streets, because the anger of God comes against us. When we sin and stumble in our relationship with Him, He has to punish us. Our money cannot help us then. There is no way for us to find rest and satisfaction, when God has come against us because of our sins. The only remedy is to repent of our sins and ask for His forgiveness. Then, He will give us rest and contentment that is far beyond anything we can purchase in this world.
Tomorrow, I intend to read Ezekiel 9-11.
