Praise the Lord!
How often do we praise the Lord? There are numerous commands in the Bible to praise Him, but do we obey those commands? If not, we are disobeying God, and we are missing a great blessing. The psalmist knew we should praise Him, and he admonished us to do so. (Psalm 148:1) I want to do the same.
Praise is magnifying God for who He is. It is giving Him glory for His perfect character. It is giving Him the honor He deserves by lifting up our voices to give Him compliments for His power, wisdom, love, and other perfections. We could spend hours praising Him and never repeat ourselves, because of His greatness. However, many of us find it difficult to praise Him, because we don't know Him well enough. The more we know Him, the more we will praise Him. We will praise Him in speech and in song. We will praise Him from the heavens and in the heights. Our lips will show forth His praise continually, if our hearts are right and set on Him.
Truly, the Lord is worthy of our praise, loud and long. The world needs to hear us praising Him. They need to sense the praise coming from our hearts. Not only will it tell them who He is, it will show them how much He means to us.
Tomorrow, I intend to read Psalms 149-150 and Proverbs 1.
