Deliverance from Our Adversaries
Unfortunately, we all have adversaries. Some people come against us because they do not like what we stand for. Others just like to hurt people, and we are their target. All of them are motivated by our ultimate adversary, Satan. He works in the lives of people to steal, kill, and destroy. David had a lot of adversaries, and he learned that he had to trust God to overcome them, because deliverance by man was in vain. (Psalm 60:11,12) We can all do the same thing, and be victorious in Him.
God does two things to help us against our adversaries. He gives us the ability to be valiant or brave in the face of opposition, and He treads down our adversaries by His power. That is a fantastic combination. We show our faith in Him by standing up for what is right and trusting in Him. Then, He delivers us from our adversaries by whatever means He decides. In both of these He gets all of the glory, and we still get deliverance. It does not mean that we will not have troubles, but it does mean we can overcome through Him. Each time we trust Him, instead of trusting ourselves or someone else, He strengthens our faith, and it is easier to trust Him the next time.
Tomorrow, I intend to read Psalm 61-63.
