Afterward Receive Me to Glory
These verses contain a truth that reminds me of my maternal grandmother in Colorado. She would pray for God to bless the food when we were visiting her in the summers as I was growing up. In each prayer she would end by saying, "...and at last save us in heaven." That clause caught my attention. It is much like what the psalmist says here, "afterward receive me to glory." Either way, we are pointed to our final home by these words, and they should be an encouragement to all of us.
God is with us continually. He does hold His children by their right hand to show our dependence on His strength. He is there to guide us by His counsel every step of our lives. However, at times we can get discouraged. They way can be difficult, and we have to endure great pain. However, if we remember that after all of the struggles and joys of life, He has promised to receive us to glory, it gives us hope to carry on for Him and with Him. This world is not our home, we are just passing through. One day, the Lord will call our name and we will be received to be with Him forever in heaven. What a blessed day that will be!
Tomorrow, I intend to read Psalms 75-77.
