Being Consecrated to the Lord
Aaron and his sons were consecrated to the Lord as the priests of God's people in the Old Covenant. (Leviticus 8:12) Moses led the ordination process of washing, being dressed in the proper clothes, being anointed with oil, and offering sacrifices for 7 days. All of it was to show Aaron, his sons, and all of the people that the priests were set apart by God for His work. It was an important work to represent God before the people. Today, every Christian is a priest, so all of us should be consecrated to the Lord to do His work.
It is easy to get wrapped up in our work, our families, and our leisure so that we fail to remember that we are sent by the Lord to be His representatives to those around us who do not know Him. If we fail to consecrate ourselves to the Lord, we will fail in our vital mission. To be consecrated to the Lord is more that being dedicated to Him. It is realizing that we are not part of this world, but we belong to Him. We are not here to do our own will, but His will. We are not to live for ourselves but for the Lord and His mission for us. However, if we are truly consecrated to Him in this way, we can be used by God to do His will in a great way. I pray that all of us who know the Lord will take time to consecrate ourselves to the Lord in a meaningful way, once and for all to be His vessels in His work.
Tomorrow, I intend to read Leviticus 9-11.
