One Thing is Needed
My purpose in writing this blog has always been to encourage all of us to be faithful to spend an unhurried time with the Lord each day. I pray that it has accomplished this purpose in your life, because that is the one thing that is needed in the life of every believer. (Luke 10:41,42) Look at what Jesus said, if you doubt me.
Jesus spent time with Mary, Martha, and Lazarus whenever He was in Jerusalem and the surrounding area, They were siblings. Martha was the OCD workalohic, but Mary spent her time sitting at the feet of Jesus hearing His words. Her inactivity in doing housework made her sister mad, so Martha asked Jesus to tell her to help out. However, Jesus set Martha straight, instead. He rebuked her for being worried and troubled about many things, so that she neglected to spend time with Him like her sister. He assured her that what Mary was doing was the one thing that was needed, not the things Martha was doing.
Please, do not be like Martha. Do not let yourself be distracted by anything that would take you from spending time with Jesus, hearing His Word. It is truly needed, and if it is neglected it brings much harm to our lives.
Tomorrow, I intend to read Luke 11-14.
