The Person Who Catches God's Eye

Out of all of the billions of people in this world, who causes God to take notice? Isaiah told us what catches the eye of God. (Isaiah 66:2) I believe those qualities should be a priority for us. What do you think?

God made all of the majestic things in this world, but He is not wowed by the scenery. He is drawn to those who are "poor and of a contrite spirit." The truth is that we are all poor compared to God. We can do nothing by ourselves. He made us, and He gave us every ability we possess. We are poor when we realize that He is everything, and we humble ourselves before Him. We are contrite when we admit that we are not righteous without Christ. We fail to obey Him so often, but when we realize we have sinned, we can admit our sin and ask God to send it away. That is being contrite. Being poor and contrite is the opposite of being proud.

Also, God sees and takes notice when we tremble at His Word. When we hear His voice speaking to us, we take heed with godly fear. When we read the Bible we tremble to think that we are holding the perfect Word of God in our hands. When we have that type of spirit God will communicate with us more and more. That is what He loves to see.

Tomorrow, I intend to read Jeremiah 1-3.
