Nor Did They Know How To Blush
People are in a serious state of immorality when they do not even know how to blush. Usually, we blush automatically when something is mentioned that is embarrassing or shameful to us. We do not want people to think that we are even associated with it, so our face turns red with embarrassment. However, when people sin so much that even the most evil things are commonplace, they do not even know how to make themselves blush any more. (Jeremiah 6:15) The people of Judah came to that point in Jeremiah's day, and we are in the same situation in America today. People do not blush, but they flaunt their sins, and they are proud of them. We are forcing God to punish our country, because to do anything else would be unrighteous on His part.
When God truly hates something, the Bible refers to it as an "abomination." Abominations are obvious sins that contradict the Bible. We see people committing the abominations of abortion, fornication, adultery, homosexuality, and murder, as well as many others, every day in America. They are not ashamed at all. They practice them greedily, and they encourage others to join them. Let me make this clear. God does not hate them. He loves these people, but He hates their sins. He gives them every opportunity to repent and to learn how to blush again. However, if they fail to heed His warnings and His call to trust in Him and follow His ways, He will bring strong punishment on them and on that society that permits those abominations, just like He did to Judah. Please, pray for America to turn to the One True God, Jesus Christ, before it is too late.
Tomorrow, I intend to read Jeremiah 7-9.
