Cleansed and Set Free
The laws about leprosy in Leviticus are very specific and instructive. Uncleanness is terrible whether it is physical or spiritual. In either case we need to be cleansed and set free to live life fully without the stains upon us. That is why God set up the cleansing of a leper to include a ceremony with two birds. One was killed, and the other was dipped in the blood of the first bird before being set free in an open field. (Leviticus 14:7) What a fantastic picture of our spiritual cleansing and freedom in Christ.
All of us have the uncleanness of sin upon us. The only One who can cleanse us is God. He provided for our cleansing by having Jesus Christ, His Eternal Son, become a man, so that He could shed His blood on the Cross. Then, when we trust Him as Lord, because of His loving sacrifice for our sins, we are dipped in His blood that totally cleanses us from our sins, and we are set free from the burden of sin's uncleanness to live life to the fullest in Christ.
I pray that all of us know this cleansing and freedom in Jesus. I would love to help you experience it, if you have not come to know Him yet.
Tomorrow, I intend to read Leviticus 17-19.
