How to Receive Blessings from God
I know God can bless whomever He desires to bless. I also know that this promise is given to Israel in the Old Covenant.(Deuteronomy 11:26-28) However, I know that God's character and nature do not change. I believe it is fair to say that God loves to bless those who keep His commandments. Therefore, if we desire God's blessings, we should start by keeping His commandments.
What does keeping His commandments entail? It is not that complicated. Like I said yesterday, we are to love the Lord with all our heart, strength, and soul first of all. Then, we are to put our trust in Him; specifically today, we are to put our trust in the Lord Jesus Christ for our salvation, which is the biggest blessing of all. Then, we are to love others as He loves them, and do whatever the Holy Spirit shows us to do directly and through God's Word, the Bible. If we do these things, we will be blessed by God in so many ways.
The opposite is also true, though. God has to send punishment and a curse on those who fail to do these things, because they are rejecting Him, and they are in danger of going to Hell, if they will not see the error of their ways. The curse and punishment are meant to turn them to God for deliverance, and to show them the need for faith in Him and obedience to His commands, so they will end up in heaven.
Tomorrow, I intend to read Deuteronomy 12-15.
