Conviction of Sin
Joseph's brothers were convicted for their sin of selling him into slavery and deceiving their father for over 20 years. They could not forget his anguish and how he pleaded with them for his life. Then, when they had their trials in Egypt, they were convinced that it was because of their sin.(Genesis 42:21) All of these things are the results of God's conviction of our sins.
There is not a single person who sins and does not feel convicted by God for that sin. They may try to cover it up and laugh it off, but it is always there, until they repent and seek forgiveness from the Lord. Of course, that is how He draws us to Him at first, so that we will be saved from our sins. He convicts us that we have sinned and those sins need to be forgiven before we can be right with Him. Then, after salvation, conviction still comes, because those sins stand between us and God having a close relationship. Therefore, we still need to repent of them and confess them for God to remove them and restore a close relationship with us.(I John 1:9)
I pray that each of us will be very sensitive to God's conviction in us for our sins, and we will do whatever it takes to have those sins forgiven. It is the only way to have peace and a clear conscience all of the time.
Tomorrow, I intend to read Genesis 44-46.
