Arguing with God
If we try to argue with God, we will never win. It is futile to argue with God since He is the Lord who created everything. However, I am afraid we do try to argue with God like Moses did. He did not want to go back to Egypt to deliver God's people. He did not feel like he was able to do that. He made excuses and argued with God. Finally, Moses told God that he could not speak well enough to go to Pharaoh. God's response was classic.(Exodus 4:11,12) We all need to hear what God told Moses here.
God knew that Moses could speak well enough. After all, He made Moses' mouth. In fact, He made the mute, the deaf, the seeing, and the blind. He knew all about speaking, because He created the ability to speak and to hear. He told Moses to go, and He would teach him what to say. God is the best teacher in the world, so that should have convinced Moses, but it didn't. God ended up sending his brother, Aaron, to speak for him. God won the argument, but he had mercy on Moses, too, in sending Aaron.
Now, we tell God the same thing. We argue that we can't speak well enough to witness to someone or to teach a class. However, God made our mouths. He can and will teach us what to say, too, but He will not force us to speak for Him. Moses missed out on speaking to Pharaoh, because he was stubborn. We miss out on witnessing and teaching, because we are stubborn.
It would be far better if we would stop arguing with God, and just go do what He told us to do, and to say what He told us to say. Then, we would get the blessings of being obedient to Him.
Tomorrow, I intend to read Exodus 8-10.
