Exalted By God
Joshua is a great example of how God exalts people in His time and in His way.(Joshua 3:7) The Bible is clear that God exalts the humble, not the people who seek to be exalted out of pride. Also, we know that the Bible teaches that God will exalt people at exactly the right time, not on our timetable, but on His. It is a great thing to be exalted by God, but we should not seek it, but we should simply accept it, if God chooses to exalt us.
Jesus gave a parable about being exalted. He told of a man who came to a feast, and he took a seat of honor on his own initiative. Then, the one giving the feast came and asked him to move down to a seat of lesser honor, so that he was very embarrassed. Jesus ended the parable by saying that we ought to take the least important seat, and if the Master wants to exalt us by bringing us to a higher seat, He will. Therefore, we are simply to humbly serve the Lord, trusting that God will do any exalting that needs to be done for His kingdom work. Then, if He exalts us, we will give Him all of the credit.
Tomorrow, I intend to read Joshua 4-6.
