Being Worthy of Jesus
Jesus said it not me. We must be worthy of Jesus. What does it take to be worthy? He gave us His standard in Matthew 10:37,38. Jesus made it clear that the quality of our love for Him and our commitment to Him has to reach a certain level or we are not worthy of Him.
We must love Him more than anyone else in the world to be worthy of Him, more than father, mother, son or daughter. What does that mean? We must understand true love to get this picture. Love is putting the other person first, ahead of yourself. Therefore, our love for Jesus must put Him before any other person in the world. We do His will first, instead of pleasing any family member ahead of doing what He wants us to do. Remember, love is not a feeling. It is a verb. It is a decision we make.
We must be committed to follow Jesus all the way to physical death to be worthy of Him. We must not put ourselves before the Lord, so that we would do whatever He calls us to do, even die for Him. This is dying to self commitment to Jesus. He did that for us, so to be worthy of Him, we must do the same for Him.
Tomorrow, I intend to read Matthew 13-15.
