Your Daily Walk with Christ
For most Christians there is a good level of understanding of what it takes to be saved, to trust Jesus as Lord, so that we enter that personal relationship with Him. However, many are fuzzy on how to live every day after they become a believer. Paul makes it simple. Live every day the same way you received Jesus Christ the Lord.(Colossians 2:6) Think about it. This verse will transform your daily life.
We receive Jesus as Lord of our lives by grace through faith, right?(Ephesians 2:8,9) Knowing Christ comes as a gift from God, that is the grace. It comes when we turn from trusting ourselves to trusting Him as Lord of our lives, that is faith. We turn to Him in repentance knowing we can't save ourselves from the sins we have committed, but we know He can take them away because of His death for our sins and His resurrection. Therefore, we surrender to Him as Lord. Isn't that what we believe?
Take that and apply it to today. We can't live today like we should, so we turn from trying to live in our power, and we trust Jesus to give us the gift of His power and direction to live. We believe He is the only One who knows how we can live for Him today, so we surrender to Him as Lord and do whatever He says to us in His Word or directly as we pray. We live every day by grace through faith.
The Christian life is not doing good things to get brownie points from Jesus. It is not picking what we want to do, so we can say we are good. The daily Christian life is walking with Jesus as Lord by trusting Him to show us where to go and what to do. Then, we do His will in His power, because we can't do it on our own. That way, every day is as amazing as the day we met Jesus!
Tomorrow, I intend to read Colossians 3-4 and I Thessalonians 1.
