Godliness is Profitable for All Things
It is hard to find something that benefits us in every area of life, but godliness does just that.(I Timothy 4:7,8) Most of the time we tend to focus on one part of our life at a time. We focus on our work, our family, our finances, our health, our relationships, etc. However, if we put our focus on godliness, it would help us do better in all of these, so that we only need one focus.
Paul told Timothy not to listen to old fables, or stories with a false message about life, but that he should put forth the effort to exercise himself toward godliness. Yes, even bodily exercise just helps us a little, while godliness helps us in this life and the life to come. That is some great counsel. We all need to hear it.
If we want to have a better life here and in heaven, we need to pursue a lifestyle that will bring us to be more like Jesus in what we say and do. It must be the main thing in our thoughts and the main thing for which we use our energy. After all, there is nothing else that yields eternal benefits like godliness.
Tomorrow, I intend to read I Timothy 6 and II Timothy 1-2.
