Christmas Stress
Christmas brings more stress into our lives. That is ironic. We are celebrating the coming of the Prince of Peace, but we find ourselves more stressed because of the extra decisions and activities. What are we to do? Really, we are to do the same thing we are supposed to do all year long. Jesus wants us to cast all of our cares upon Him all of the time, because He cares for everything we need.(I Peter 5:7) He is the greatest Stress Reliever in the universe.
The holiday stress comes into play because we tend to be busier than usual. We rationalize that we do not have time to read our Bibles and pray. We even forsake having our time with the Lord to do other things, which we think are more important at the time, because we "have to get everything done." See what I mean. We forget the One we are celebrating.
Let's do away with the Christmas stress by spending time with the Christ of Christmas. Let's talk with Him about every gift and every activity. Let's take all of the cares and give them to Him. He is strong. He knows the answers, and He can carry the load. However, we have to give it all to Him. Once we do, we can have a Merry Christmas, instead of a stressed out Christmas.
Tomorrow, I intend to read II Peter 2-3 and I John 1.
