Irresistible Wisdom
After the day of Pentecost when all of the believers received the Holy Spirit, the believers went everywhere in Jerusalem sharing the truth about Jesus Christ. Multitudes trusted Christ as Lord and Savior. However, many of the Jewish leaders and most of the people would not believe in Jesus. They heard the wisdom of what the disciples were saying in the power of the Holy Spirit, and they had no answer for them.(Acts 6:10) The wisdom was irresistible. They did not know how to cope with these people because of their wisdom and the power of the Holy Spirit shown through their actions. The same will be true for us today, if we live in the Spirit and share God's wisdom.
Everyone has a choice to receive God's wisdom or not. Just because we share the truth in the power of the Spirit does not mean that everyone will trust Christ. Stephen spoke for the Lord, and they ended up stoning him to death. They could not refute what he was saying, and they could not attack his attitudes or actions. They had to make up lies, and they ended up using violence, since they could not answer what he was saying. Still Stephen shared the truth in love, and so should we. We must go in the name of Jesus and in the power of the Holy Spirit to shine the light of God's wisdom into a dark world, so that men, women, boys, and girls can have the opportunity to know the Lord Jesus Christ.
Our mission as believers is not to force people to believe the truth. We are not to be mean or hateful. We are to be so filled with the Spirit that people see Jesus in us, and when we speak, they have no answer for the wisdom we share. Then, they have the choice to make. Let's decide to be like Stephen and represent Christ well each day, no matter what happens.
Tomorrow, I intend to read Acts 7-9.
