Grace and Favor
How did an orphan Jewish lady become the queen of the most powerful country in the world, Persia?(Esther 2:17) It was very simply the grace and favor God granted to her for His purposes. That is how God works. He gives us His grace for our life situations, and He grants us favor in the eyes of other people.
Many people do not know this reality, so they are trying to work their own lives out in their power. They believe life consists of deciding what you want, and then being assertive and aggressive enough to get it. In some cases this plan might be partially effective. However, it never accomplishes God's will.
For us to really find the best in life, we must submit to God and allow Him to work out His will in our lives. We must be obedient to His directions as we meet with Him in prayer. Then, as He gives us the opportunity to glorify Him, He gives us grace to be who we need to be, and He causes the other people around us to see us in a favorable light. All we have to do then is trust Him each day to continue living out His plan for us. It is much better than anything we would ask or even think to ask for ourselves, just like Esther's story.
Tomorrow, I intend to read Esther 4-7.
