God's Timing Is Best
I wonder how many times we give up on the Lord before we see His perfect will come to pass? I am sure it happens many times, because so many of us have trouble with patience. David was finally anointed as king of Israel after a long, winding road to the throne.(II Samuel 5:3) His faith faltered a few times, but for the most part he remained faithful to the Lord.
The one thing that was constant through the years that he waited to become king was his commitment to seeing it come in God's timing. David did not want to take things in his own hands to try to speed up the process. Twice he could have seized the throne by killing Saul, but he would not harm God's anointed king. When others wanted to intervene for him, he stopped them. David was content to wait on the Lord. Because of David's willingness to wait, he became the greatest king Israel ever had. God lifted him up. He did not try to exalt himself.
This is a great lesson for us. God's timing is always best. We need not try to speed Him up. We should not try to hurry through life. Each day is an opportunity to find what He has for us to do. We should take one day at a time, and when He has something new for us, He will work it out.
Tomorrow, I intend to read II Samuel 6-9.
