How We Love Jesus
There are several verses in the Bible that tell us how to love Jesus. It all boils down to keeping His commandments.(John 14:21) It is not that we have a great feeling of affection for Him. It is a commitment to Him. Since we love Him, we want to please Him. The way we please Him is to keep His commandments.
God's Word is the commandments of God for us. It is not all commandments, but all of the commands in the Bible are God's commands for us. As we read His Word or hear it taught, we pick up on what God desires for us to do. Our love for Jesus compels us to obey, not out of duty, but out of sincere love. It is joyful submission.
The great thing is that when we keep His commandments, He manifests His love and Himself to us. We see what Jesus is like. We enjoy His presence. We hear His voice. It all comes because we love the One who loved us first and gave Himself for us in the greatest act of love in history.
Tomorrow, I intend to read John 16-19.
