The National Day of Prayer
I hope you spent some time praying for our country today. The first Thursday in May is the National Day of Prayer. It is the time to cry out to God for Him to bless our country. It is the time to pray for genuine revival in our land. It is the time we remember that we are "One Nation Under God."
I had the privilege of praying with the students, faculty, and staff of our academy and some of our parents early this morning. Then, we had our regular chapel service for the elementary school students. We focused on Psalm 33:12, because that was the verse for this year's National Day of Prayer.
Of course, we need to pray for our country more than once a year. However, it is a blessing to live in a country where we can have a national day of prayer. We need more prayer, and we need more days when God's people stop what they are doing to earnestly seek God's favor. Our country has many problems, and some of them are severe. There are none that can't be solved by the power of God being unleashed on our country once again in a Great Awakening. I hope you will join me in praying for God to intervene and to bless our country, because His people are calling out to Him in faith.
Tomorrow, I intend to read Ezra 8-10 and Nehemiah 1.
