Walking With God
There are way too many people who have a skewed view of the Christian life. Some think it is about going to church services on Sunday and trying to be a good person. Others are convinced that being a Christian is living by the rules set forth in the Bible. Of course, a short amount of time invested in reading the New Testament shows a far different reality. Being a Christian is trusting Jesus as Lord and Savior. It is about trusting Him for everything, not just the forgiveness of sins.
Therefore, I would ask a question: What is trust? Another way to phrase the same question is: How do I trust Jesus? The truth about trust is that it means we walk with God every day. We pray for Him to show us His way in His Word and in our prayer life. Then, when we see His way, we trust Him, and we do it. That is trust. It is not salvation by works, but it is salvation by real living faith. James 2 says it all, "faith without works is dead." It is not faith at all. We are not trusting Jesus, even if we have some feeling in our hearts or some intellectual knowledge in our heads.
Remember one of my favorite verses, Luke 9:23, "If anyone desires to come after Me, let him deny himself, take up his cross daily, and follow Me." That sounds like walking with God to me. What about you?
Tomorrow, I intend to read I Kings 16-18.
