God's Wisdom

Most people seem to have a great deal of difficulty understanding how God thinks and works. Isaiah 55:8-9 tells us as much. They think they should be able to understand His logic and count on Him to be compassionate in every situation they way they would. God doesn't work like that, does He?

The case with which I was presented the other day went like this: "I can't understand why God does not answer the prayers of those who are hungry and give them more food." I tried to give a few options for this person to consider. God is more concerned about our spiritual condition than with physical things. Also, He can use our need for food and other things to draw us closer to Him. In some situations God is not willing to bail a person out of his or her need, because it has resulted from a wrong choice, so God wants them to consider the consequences of their actions. None of these options helped the person. The only response was that those situations were hard for them to handle.

I know we all have to learn to trust God in everything. I think the best way to get to that point is to realize God always does the wise and loving thing for the most people involved in any situation. We may not be able to see it, but He sees it all, so He knows. That is why God's wisdom is always the best, and it is always greater than man's wisdom.

Tomorrow, I intend to read II Kings 3-5.
