God's Goodness Leads Us To Repentance
My verse for today was Romans 2:4. It is a profound verse, because it states a truth which is the opposite of what most people think. Simply put, it is God's goodness that leads us to repentance from our sins. What do you think? I have known many people who felt that it was God's wrath that leads us to repentance because we are afraid of what He will do to us, because of our sins. I am sure that works for some people, and I know we should have a holy fear of God. However, His goodness should be an even greater motivation to repent of sin. When we see how good God is to us, we should desire to please Him and to receive even more blessings because of our obedience. God doesn't take pleasure in punishing the wicked or His children. His pleasure is in blessing His children, so He would prefer that we repent because of His goodness, instead of waiting for His wrath. Now, that makes sense, so the next time you see the goodness of God, let it lead you to repentance and more blessings in your life.
Tomorrow, I intend to read Romans 5-7.
