Witnessing to the Japanese
Most of you know that my daughter and her husband are missionaries to Japan. They will leave next week to return to Nagoya for their first term after learning the language. During their language training they were able to witness to their friends, but it was difficult because of the language barrier. Now, they will be able to give a more complete explanation of the gospel. We are all praying for a great church planting movement to sweep across Japan.
Tonight, I heard a great story which was very encouraging to me. One of the older men in our community served in the military at the end of World War Two, and he was working in Japan. He had a co-worker, who was a young Japanese man. As they worked together, he told the young man about Jesus. He had never heard the name of Jesus before. They had to communicate using an English and Japanese dictionary much of the time. However, when the soldier returned home, he received a letter from the Japanese man thanking him for telling him about Jesus. He had asked Jesus to be his Lord and Savior. Praise the Lord for His goodness and power!
I believe the Lord had that man share his story tonight as an encouragement to Jeff and Lori as they prepare to go back. One reason I believe that is that the man's son had never heard his father share about witnessing to this young man. However, God led him to share it at out men's dinner tonight. I know that is how the Holy Spirit works to prompt hearts and to show His power.
Tomorrow, I intend to read Job 29-32.
