Prayer Walking
I have been urging our church family to go prayer walking with me on the first Saturday of the month. We have been faithful for the past two years or so, but we have not had a big group each time. It is a marvelous time to take up the Whole Armor of God and resist Satan out in the community. It is amazing how effective it has been for our missionaries around the world, and the same could be true here.
As we walk, we find out things about people just by looking at their houses and their possessions, which allow us to pray for them with spiritual sensitivity. Many times we can tell if they have children, or if they are older. Sometimes, it is obvious that they have teenagers or what they like to do in their spare time. All of these things enable us to pray specifically for them.
Then, there are those occasions when someone is outside, and we introduce ourselves to them. Then, we ask them if they have any prayer requests. I am always surprised that it is hard for them to think of any. However, we assure them of our prayers and give them some information about our church.
The main things is that we know God answers our prayers for these people as we pray in faith and according to His Word. We know their hearts are touched, and God opens their eyes to the Gospel of Jesus. Then, they have the choice of turning from their sins and trusting Jesus. We may not see them again until Heaven, but that would be a great place to meet.
Tomorrow, I intend to read Isaiah 20-22 and Ephesians 6.
