Christian Unity
This evening we had our annual Community Worship Service at our church. It was our first time to host it. It is the same group of churches that have a Sunrise Service on Easter in Stockbridge. We felt we needed to do more than just once a year, so we started this service three years ago. I felt we had a good time of worship and fellowship. However, it is really about a lot more than that.
The world around us is dying and going to Hell. Many of those people discount the Gospel of Jesus Christ because they do not see it lived out by the Christians who say they believe it. All they see if infighting in churches, and disagreements between denominations. Why would they want to listen to folks like that tell them about the love of Christ?
Then, the worst problem is that we stay in our holy huddles at church, and we do not impact our families and neighborhoods for Christ. We are content to have a good time at church while those around us perish. This is just the opposite of what Jesus commanded us to do. We must begin to be "disciple makers" like Jesus said. I like to say that we must be missionaries to our culture and community. If we don't begin to think in those terms we will lose the spiritual war for the souls of the men and women around us. What will we have to say when we stand before the Lord and give an account for the way we have lived?
Tomorrow, I intend to read Isaiah 5-6 and Ephesians 1.
