God's Lovingkindness
The Bible has several words that are not real words in English. They are Bible words. They are the best translation of a Hebrew or a Greek word, but there is not an exact translation, so they make up a word. One of those words is "lovingkindness." When you type it, the spell check will tell you it is misspelled, but it isn't.
It is from the Hebrew word "chesed." It means that God is loving toward us in that He always keeps His part of the covenant, even though we may fail to keep our end of the deal. The result of this quality is that He is loving and kind toward us. Thus, we say lovingkindness. It is a marvelous character trait. We should all strive to have lovingkindness like the Lord.
I have heard so many people insinuate that God has let them down or that God has done them wrong. I would beg to differ with them. God has never done anyone wrong, and He never lets anyone down. He goes the extra mile with us, especially once we come to know Christ as our Lord and Savior. However, if we sin, we bring disaster on ourselves. We must never blame it on God. He gives us every opportunity to do the right thing, and He showers us with blessings in the process. It is outside of His character to fail to keep anything He told us or any of His promises. What a wonderful Father we have!
Tomorrow, I intend to read Psalms 16-17 and Acts 20:1-16.
