One Holy Passion
For the past several months I have been teaching on the Mind of Christ from the workbook written by Dr. T W Hunt. It is an excellent study that I would commend to any Christian. Tonight, as we concluded the second unit, the focus was on God's promise to us in Matthew 6:33.
I am sure that many of us know this verse that says, "But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you." However, have we all applied it to our lives? Have we obeyed the command and received the blessings? Without the application it doesn't really do us any good to know this promise. In fact, it may increase God's judgment against us when we stand before Him, if we knew it, but we did not obey it.
The truth of the verse put in simple words is this; Our business is to put God's will and His righteousness first, and His business is to meet our needs. However, when we fail to put His kingdom and His righteousness first, it blocks Him from blessing us by taking care of our needs. If we want to try to meet our own needs, He will let us try and fail. Then, He will come to us again and remind us that if we will have one holy passion, He will take care of the rest. Therefore, I think it is vital for all of us to ask ourselves if we have that one holy passion, or if we have a mind that is divided between doing our will and His will. That never works. Neither one is accomplished that way. The other way always works, and both are accomplished by His grace. That has been my experience, and I know it will be yours if you make His will your one passion.
Tomorrow, I intend to read Psalms 7-9 and Acts 18.
