The Importance of Joy
I love to share with people the importance of having joy. The Bible says that "The joy of the Lord is our strength." That is a profound statement. If you are tired or weak, what you need is joy. The joy of the Lord has supernatural power to refresh our lives. I pray that we all know this type of real joy.
Unfortunately, most people only know happiness, and that is what they are seeking. There is a profound difference between happiness and joy. Happiness is dependent on the circumstances of life. It is the result of doing something enjoyable. Once the situation changes, happiness leaves. Joy is abiding. It comes from the Lord, so it is not dependent on circumstances. In fact, it is present even in the worst of circumstances. Joy is the secure realization that all is well, because we know the Lord, and He is in control.
Let's make it a priority to share with people their need for the joy of the Lord, so He can transform their sorrow into joy.
Tomorrow, I intend to read Judges 16-18 and Luke 7:1-30.
