Trying to Cover Up Sins
I found a verse that I had been wanting to look up when I was reading Proverbs 28. In verse 13 the Lord assures us that he who covers his sins will not prosper. That is a serious problem since we all tend to try to keep our sins secret. The rest of the verse describes what our course of action should be when we sin. It says that whoever confesses and forsakes them will have mercy. Confession means we have to admit them, We can`t try to conceal them, or God won`t forgive.
I know we only need to confess our sins to the people who know about them, so we can ask for their forgiveness, but if we try to cover them up, we won`t even want to talk to God about them. We need to get honest with ourselves and admit our sins, so we can get rid of them. God is the only one who can take them away by His mercy. Therefore, we have to go by His rules. The principle is that sin thrives in the dark. However, when you bring the sin to the light, then God takes it away. He is the Light, so we have to take it to Him first, and He will reveal it to us fully. Then, we can confess it to others, if that is needed.
Tomorrow, I intend to read Ecclesiastes 1-3 and II Corinthians 11:16-33.
