The Love of Jesus
Yesterday morning we had 17 men who gathered at 5 AM to take a walk to the Garden Of Gethsemane with Jesus and His disciples. We felt the darkness, as we crossed the Brook Kidron and entered the garden. We saw the torches and lanterns approaching as Judas brought hundreds of soldiers, officers, and Pharisees to arrest Jesus in the place they often met for prayer. We saw Jesus step forward, not run away. He did not deny who He was to save His life. He gave Himself for us. He announced, "I am He." Thus, He showed that He was God, and by the sheer power of His words, the words of God, the soldiers and others backed up and fell to the ground. There was no doubt they were not arresting a normal person. This was Jesus of Nazareth, who was God and Man.
Why did they not kneel in faith at that point? Their hard hearts were not looking for a Savior. They were set on a lynching. The soldiers were following orders, and the Jews were convinced that Jesus was blaspheming when He said He was God, so they had decided to kill Him. They would not listen to the loving words of Christ, because they had their own agenda in legalism. The same is true of many people today. They have their own agenda, and they reject Christ, when He reveals Himself clearly to them. Still, we have to keep showing them the love of Jesus, a Savior who volunteered to go to the Cross for them and pay for their sins.
Today, I read Psalms 84-86 and Romans 12.
