Having a Wicked Mother
The role of the mother in the life of a child is so pivotal that it makes a huge impact on the life of that child. I think we take for granted that mothers teach their children to live right and to believe correctly. Many times that is not the case, either by what they say or what they do.
I was reading in II Chronicles 22 that Ahaziah's mother, Athaliah, "advised him to do wickedly." What an indictment against her, and what a hindrance to her son. The child so trusts his mother and believes his mother that her advice is a major factor in his life. This mother brought down her child from the very beginning of his life.
Sometimes, it is what a mother says, but other times, they say the right thing, but they do the opposite. The child will see through that hypocrisy, and the effect is the same. The mother is showing the child to act wickedly.
I praise God for having a godly mother, and I praise God that Chris is a godly mother to our children. Without that influence for good, I do not know what would have happened. We need to pray a special prayer for those children we know whose mothers advise them to do evil.
Tomorrow, I intend to read II Chronicles 23-24 and John 15.
