The Roberts Family

It was such a blessing to get to be with Doug, Dana, Tyler, Jason, and Christopher Roberts on our mission trip to the Dominican Republic last week. Of course, they are IMB missionaries, who are members of our church. (They are still a part of our family, even though they are kind of non-resident members right now.) I am glad to report that God is using them in a fantastic way, as they fulfill the ministry to which God has called them.

The great thing about the Roberts family is their desire to be faithful to the Lord no matter what it takes. They are ready to sacrifice their personal pleasures and desires to obey God and to be used by Him. In a day of selfishness and ambition this is so refreshing to see. I don't say that because they are my friends, I say that because it is the truth. Please, join me in praying for their ministry on a regular basis. Remember to pray for the boys, too, since they are able to reach people that Doug and Dana can't reach. They are all excellent missionaries.

In fact, they are a great example of what I have been telling our church for a year or so. Doug and Dana have followed the Lord to the Dominican Republic, but they were missionaries to Stockbridge before they left. Dana was the VBS director, and she did such a wonderful job of putting on an evangelistic program because she had a heart to reach the children of Stockbridge for the Lord. Doug was a faithful witness as well as a wonderful deacon chairman. All that happened in their lives was a change of location and language. We all are missionaries like the Roberts, and one day we will be judged by God as to how we fulfilled the ministry to which He called us. He will tell us how we fulfilled Matthew 28:19-20. That is not just for pastors, but for every believer.

Tomorrow, I intend to read Numbers 7-8 and Mark 4:21-41.
