Lawlessness
I know that most people don't like to talk about sin. They want to ignore it, or at least, they want to redefine it as something benign. The problem is that sin is real, and it will hurt you whether you believe in it or not. God makes sure that the wages of sin is death.
Have you ever tried to figure out sin? If you have, you have probably learned the truth of I John 3:4, "... and sin is lawlessness." Sin is thinking that the law does not apply to us. Sin is acting on that thought, so that we think we have a valid reason for breaking the law. Therefore, for us there is no law. We think we are free to do what we think is right. We become lawless, and we practice lawlessness. We have all done this at certain times, when we broke the speed limit or we told a lie. However, that does not make it right. Lawlessness is a dangerous attitude. We can't get away with breaking God's law. He will always make sure we know that breaking His law has consequences.
Instead of lawlessness, we should submit to God's law. That is righteousness. God blesses righteousness. We must believe that we are under God's law and obey it out of love for Him. Then, we can keep away from sin and its wages.
Tomorrow, I intend to read Leviticus 14 and Matthew 26:51-75.
