The God Who Hears and Saves - Psalms 54-56 and Romans 3

In these psalms David cried out to God to save him from the enemies who surrounded him. He was in danger, but he knew that he could trust God to deliver him. He knew that deliverance must come from the Lord. Only God could save him from those who would destroy him. The good thing is that God loves to save those who trust Him and cry out to Him. When we have trials and enemies come against us, we must have the same faith and the same assurance that God will save us. We must cry out to Him for deliverance.

In Romans 3 Paul detailed our most dangerous and pervasive enemy, sin. He pointed out that all have sinned, both Jews and Gentiles. All need to be delivered from the deadly enemy of sin, which would send us all to Hell. The only way to be saved from sin, is to trust God and to cry out to Him. God has already prepared the way through Jesus' death to defeat sin and to forgive us. He can and will redeem us from sin, if we will cry out to Him. In the Old Testament, even from Adam's time, He made a way for those sins to be covered or passed over, because of the animal sacrifices, but they all pointed to the ultimate sacrifice of Jesus once for all the sins of humanity. We must recognize the most deadly enemy. Satan can't send you to Hell, but sin can and will. Satan will lead you to sin, but you have the choice. Once you follow the flesh and Satan's leading, you must have salvation from the greatest enemy. Only faith in Jesus Christ and His payment for your sin is sufficient to defeat sin once and for all. Don't think about sin as something everyone does. Think about sin as the greatest enemy to be defeated. That is why Jesus had to die. He defeated sin, Satan, and death all at once on the Cross. He is the only one who can give us deliverance.

Tomorrow, I intend to read Psalms 57-59 and Romans 4.
