Focusing on the Lord - Psalms 1-3 and Acts 17:1-15
God designed us to have a relationship with Him. The only way that we are able to have the life that He intends for us to have is to focus on Him. If we neglect our relationship with Him, things will not go well. We see this principle all around us each day. Psalm 1 explains it so well. The person who delights in the law of the Lord and focuses on it day and night is like an well-rooted, fruitful tree. Those who ignore God's laws to carry on life in their own way are like chaff that is blown away. Most people live their lives blowing in the winds of this world, because they will not agree to focus on their relationship with the Lord. The leaders of the earth resist the Lord, too. They want to do things their own way. This attitude leads God to bring judgment on them. Psalm 2 makes this clear, and we see it all around us every day. Then, Psalm 3 is very personal. When we have enemies or troubles rise up against us, how do we attack them? If we focus on the Lord, He is our shield, and He gives us the victory. If not, we live a defeated life. Will you decide to focus on the Lord, day and night?
In Acts 17 we see the division that comes when the focus is put on the Lord. Some will accept Him and enter into a relationship with Him. Others will become angry. Some will receive the Word of God like the Bereans, and they will search it for the truth. Others will reject the truth and try to destroy the people who focus on the Lord. It is easy to see that this reaction is Satan working in them. He was the first to reject God and to focus on himself. Now, he infects people with that desire. He leads people to be self-centered. He tempts them to think that they are gods, and they do not need to focus on the Lord. Please, do not listen to Satan. Put your focus on the Lord and keep it there each day. Your life will not be without trouble, but it will be wonderfully blessed by God.
Tomorrow, I intend to read Psalms 4-6 and Acts 17:16-34.
