Preparing Your Ways Before the Lord - II Chronicles 25-27 and John 16
The Bible tells us that king Jotham became mighty, because he prepared his ways before the Lord. That is a great word picture. I can just see him laying it all out before the Lord and asking God to look over His ways and plans, so He could direct him in the right way. I am sure that is God's will for all of us. If Amaziah would have realized this, he would have acted with a loyal heart, but he was trying to hide things from God. If Uzziah would have brought everything before the Lord, he would not have fallen into pride and sin as he did. That is what we all have to guard against.
The ministry of the Holy Spirit leads us to prepare our ways before the Lord today. The Holy Spirit lives in us, but He is there to be our guide. Jesus lays it all out in John 16. We must not try to hide things from the Spirit. Instead, we should ask Him to show us the way. He will gladly convict us of sin, righteousness, and judgment. He will gladly show us the ways of Christ. That is His responsibility in this world. However, we can ignore Him, too. We must not ignore Him, but we must take time to lay all of our ways out before Him and ask Him how we should proceed. Let's not take anything for granted. Let's take each day before the Lord. Let's ask Him to bless our lives, because we have sought to honor Him in all we do.
Tomorrow, I intend to read II Chronicles 28-29 and John 17.
