God is Always True to His Word - Joshua 1-3 and mark 16
God is faithful. He always does what He says He will do. We have doubts and fears about many things, but we should never doubt God's Word. It is fully reliable. We can trust His written Word, the Bible, or what He reveals to us directly. We see this several different ways in these passages.
Joshua took over from Moses. God assured Joshua that He would not leave him or forsake him. All He asked was for Joshua to obey His Word and to be strong and courageous. Then, God made it easy for Joshua to do these things. When he sent the spies to Jericho, they came back with a great report of how the people there were already afraid of God. God said they would be able to take the land. He was true to His Word. He had gone before to prepare the way. Then, when they were to cross the Jordan river, God assured Joshua that He was going to exalt him in the sight of the people. How did He do that? He did it in the best way possible. He dried up the Jordan river so that the people walked across on dry ground. What a confirmation of His Word. Just like Moses had led them across a dry Red Sea, now Joshua was leading them across a dry Jordan River. God was true to His Word in every way. What has God said to you in the Bible or directly to you? Are you believing it and acting on it? We should always know that we can take God at His Word.
Jesus had told them repeatedly that He would rise again the third day. He did. God did it exactly as He said He would. His disciples should not have been surprised, but they were. Why were they surprised? They did not realize that they could trust God's Word. We all need to learn that lesson and to know that our lives can only be successful as we believe God's Word to us and act upon it in faith. That is trusting God.
Tomorrow, I intend to read Joshua 4-6 and Luke 1:1-20.
