God Requires Us to be Prepared and Profitable - Leviticus 6-7 and Matthew 25:1-30
In reading about the sacrifices in Leviticus 6 and 7 did you notice what it said about the priests? God's law was that only "holy" hands could handle the sacrifices. This is a reference to the priests, who were to be prepared for offering the sacrifices by being clean, anointed, and holy. God would not accept a sacrifice from an unholy person. Then, did you notice how often part of the sacrifice went to the priest who offered it? God was providing abundantly for those who were serving Him. Of course, God provided for the other people, too. However, God had a special way of providing for the priests. God is truly the God who provides for us all in wonderful ways as we trust Him.
Then, Matthew 25 takes this theme to a higher level. The parable of the 10 virgins shows us that we must be prepared for Jesus to come again, or we will be left behind. The virgins who did not have the oil, which represents the Spirit, were left out. They could not use another person's oil. They had to be prepared personally. Then, the parable of the talents is about taking anything God gives us and using it to be profitable for Him. This is His will. We are not to be lazy servants who hide what He gives us. We are to use it, and see it multiply for Him. God supplies, but then, we are stewards of it to see it grow. How are you doing in these two areas? Are you prepared by being holy and right with the Lord? Are you being a good steward of all He has given you? What will He find when you stand before Him? Will He be able to say, "Well done, good and faithful servant?" I hope that each of us will hear Him say that because we have been prepared and profitable.
Tomorrow, I intend to read Leviticus 8-10 and Matthew 25:31-46.
