Failing to See and Believe the Obvious Truth - Genesis 43-45 and Matthew 12:24-50

I do not believe that Joseph was playing games with his brothers. I do not think he was trying to punish them for what they had done to him. However, I do think there was a reason for the things he did to them after he met them in Egypt. Why did he ask specifically about their father and if they had a younger brother? Why did he return their money in their bags the first time they came? Why did he take them to his home to eat the second time they came? Why did he seat them in birth order at the table? Why did he put his cup in Benjamin's bag? I believe all along he was trying to get them to see the obvious truth. This man knew a lot about them somehow. Could this be their long lost brother, Joseph? However, even with all of these clues they did not talk among themselves or ask him any questions. They were too wrapped up in themselves and their guilt to see the truth. I believe this keeps people from seeing the obvious truth today, too.

In Matthew 12 Jesus is accused of casting out demons by the power of the devil, instead of by God's power. It is obvious that He was from God, but the Pharisees rejected the obvious. Jesus had to warn them strongly about the blasphemy of the Holy Spirit. What is that? It is rejecting the obvious truth the Holy Spirit is revealing. It is looking for another explanation based on personal preferences. It is rejecting the obvious and attributing it to something weird. That is how I look at people who accept evolution. They are rejecting the obvious truth for a weird theory. Jesus goes on to say that people will receive a greater judgment because of this failure to see and believe the obvious. People need to fill their lives with faith in the Lord, because of the obvious truth He shows us, instead of seeking out every weird thing and opening themselves to demons in the process. The truth of the matter is that even Jesus' family had a hard time believing the obvious truth about Him once He began His ministry. That is why He said what He said when they came to get Him. Please, don't let yourself fall into this trap of the devil. Open your eyes to the obvious things the Spirit is showing you and believe them fully.

Tomorrow, I intend to read Genesis 46-48 and Matthew 13:1-30.
