December 21, 2006 - Micah 4-5 and Revelation 12

These passages remind us that there is a cosmic struggle going on between God and the forces of Satan. God has allowed this warfare to continue since Adam and Eve, because He knew in His wisdom that He had to create man with a real choice between good and evil. Without a real choice men and women can't choose to truly love Him, and that is what God wants. He wants a continuing love relationship with each of us. However, both of these passages show us that one day this conflict will end when Jesus returns to set up His 1,000 year reign on the earth. I believe it helps us to realize that Satan is a defeated foe, and there is no way he can win the war against God.

Micah 4 tells us about the Millennium. It will be a time when God's law is taught from Jerusalem. (v.2) It will be a time of peace. (v.3) People will only worship the True God. (v.5) Jesus will reign over the whole world. This is one of the reasons He was born into this world. He was to be a ruler. (5:2) Why is all of this going to happen? God's people have not followed Him as He desired, so God will have a time to show them how it could have been if they had been faithful. I believe that we will be amazed to see God's perfect will lived out during this 1,000 year period.

Then, in Revelation 12 we read about the prelude to the 1,000 years. Satan and his demons will be cast down to the earth without any assess to come before God as they did in Job's day. They will know that their time is short, so they will fight more fiercely. For the last half of the Tribulation time Satan's attacks will be so strong that the only things that will prevail against him will be the blood of the Lamb and the word of the testimonies of the believers. (v.11) In other words, it is a spiritual battle, and only those who trust the Lord Jesus will be delivered from Satan's attacks. In reality, that is how it is today, too. It will just be much worse then. We must put our full trust in the blood of Jesus and in His authority to deliver us, or we will be defeated by Satan and his demons.

Tomorrow, I Intend to read Micah 6-7 and Revelation 13.
