July 3, 2006 - Job 25-27 and Acts 12

Have you ever been overcome by the realization of how great God is and how small we are? Most of us have thought about that at one time or another. I hope you will let the Lord speak to you about His greatness as you read His Word today.

Bildad makes a good point in chapter 25. He reminds us that no one is really righteous compared to God. It does not matter how good we are. We are nothing compared to God, when it comes to purity. Job picks up in chapter 26 by saying the same thing when it comes to the power of God. No human can compare to the Creator of the universe. He made it all, and we stand in awe of Him. However, Job still declares in chapter 27 that he will not give up his integrity before God. He is not as wise or as pure or as powerful as God. However, he had walked in the best way he could to live a righteous life before Him. Therefore, he could stand before God with integrity and tell Him that he had done his best. How would you feel today, if you were to stand before Holy God? Would you be able to stand before Him with full integrity?

Acts 12 emphasizes to us the power of God. He could set Peter free from the most secure prison, while at the same time, He could require the life of Herod in a moment of time. He is God, and He can do whatever He desires. We are so limited. We must depend upon Him. We must learn that there is no place for pride in the Christian life. We must be humble before the Lord and submit to His holiness. Only then, can He use a worm like me.

Tomorrow, I intend to read Job 28-29 and Acts 13:1-25.
