July 23, 2006 - Psalms 33-34 and Acts 24
These two psalms show us how good it is to fear the Lord and to live in righteousness before Him. God has a special way of blessing the lives of those who fear Him. He loves to see people living in righteousness, so he will reward them. Do you fear the Lord? Is it your aim to live in righteousness each day? I pray that each of us would seek to live a life that honors the Lord in these two areas. He promises to watch over those who fear Him. (33:18) He will deliver the righteous from all of their afflictions. (34:19)
As we seek to worship the Lord today, we should seek to praise Him by singing. We should stand in awe of who He is and what He has done. (33:8-9) We should magnify the Lord with other believers. (34:3) We should taste and see that He is good! (34:8)
Acts 24 is an example of God delivering the righteous. Paul has to appear before Felix, the Roman governor. He is able to stand in righteousness, because none of the charges against him are true. He does not try to protect himself by keeping quiet about his faith. He witnesses to the crowd. (v.14) Then, he witnesses to Felix himself. (v.25) Paul knew that his deliverance would come from God. He knew that he should continue to live a life that honored Him as long as he was alive, and God would guide him and empower him. The same is true for us all today.
Tomorrow, I intend to read Psalms 35-36 and Acts 25.
