July 10 - Proverbs 26,27

After reading these two chapters of Proverbs, I hope you never want to be a fool or a lazy person. A fool is a person who lives without an understanding of God's wisdom. In fact, the Bible says that a fool says in his heart, there is no God. Even if we are not fools, we have to look out for fools, because they can cause us harm, and God wants us to carefully correct the fools around us, so they don't think they are wise. It is difficult to know how to respond to a foolish person, so we must ask God for the right words. The people who are even harder to handle than fools are those who are wise in their own eyes. (26:12)

There are several verses in these chapters about being careful in our dealings with other people. Be careful about meddling in someone else's quarrel. (26:17) Be careful about believing a person who hates, when he speaks kindly. (26:24,25) Watch out for jealousy! (27:4) Be careful when your enemy offers you kisses. (27:6)

I hope that reading the book of Proverbs is helping you to see that we need God's wisdom for every situation of life 24/7. We must allow His Holy Spirit to fill us and to direct our every word and action. If we don't, we can be a fool, or we can be hurt by those around us. God is a loving Heavenly Father, who cares for us very much, but He wants us to listen to Him and to obey Him. When He gives us instruction, He wants us to use it and to grow in our understanding of His wisdom. That is what this book of Proverbs is all about.

Tomorrow, I intend to read proverbs 28 and 29.
