June 27 - Psalms 145-147
These three psalms urge us all to be filled with praise for God all the time. The Lord is gracious, compassionate, slow to anger, and great in mercy. There is so much for which to praise Him. The Lord is good to all, and His tender mercy is seen in all His works. I urge you to make it a regular practice to praise God for His perfect character and thank Him for His wonderful works. It will be a constant reminder of His greatness and His blessings to all of us.
The one theme that really impressed me in these psalms was that God lifts up those who have fallen. He lifts up the humble. He is with all of those who fear Him. Do you see a common denominator? These three groups of people are not proud. They have come to the place where they are ready to listen to God, and they know they need Him. Pride keeps us from turning to God, and it makes us do the wrong thing many times. How is your heart doing today? Is it hindered by pride? Are you humble enough to really turn to the Lord and submit fully to Him? I hope so. God is so good and powerful. He can do anything to help us, but He is not going to help a proud person, who does not ask for His help with a willing heart.
Tomorrow, I intend to read Psalms 148-150.
