June 28 - Psalms 148-150
The more I read the Bible, the more I find that is well placed and appropriate. As God inspired the Book of Psalms, He saw fit to end His hymnbook with three more psalms of praise. It is the perfect ending to the most wonderful collection of poetry. These inspired poems and songs point us to the Lord, but they especially lead us to praise Him for being worthy of all of our praise. This emphasis is very important for many reasons, but one of the most important reasons is that people have trouble with sincerely praising other people and with sincerely praising God. It is much easier for us to be negative than positive. It is easier for us to pick out faults than to point out praises. In Psalms God is trying to tell us to concentrate on praise.
Praise Him because He is the Creator and the Sustainer of the universe. (Psalm 148) He is the Maker of all absolutes. He is the only Perfect One, so His name alone is exalted completely and without exception. There is nothing about Him that should not be praised.
We should get as excited about praising God as anything else we do. We should use our bodies and our abilities to praise Him. He has given us the victory over our enemies. He has sustained us over the years. Let everything that has breath praise the Lord. I Hope that is your heart today and every day. Praise is a healthy lifestyle. It will uplift your spirit and your body.
Tomorrow, I intend to read Proverbs 1-3.
