Revolting Against God

It is a very serious sin to revolt against God. When any person or group of people revolt against God, they are putting themselves in direct opposition to the Lord of the universe. They soon find out that they made a very bad decision, because God will come against them and even destroy them if that is what He deems necessary. Therefore, we need to stay away from revolting against God. This is even true for Christians, who might never think they would revolt against God.

Korah was a Levite, and he and a large group of his followers rebelled against Moses and Aaron. They did not want to follow their leadership any longer. Therefore, Moses addressed their rebellion. (Numbers 16:11) Moses told them that the One Korah and his followers were really revolting against was God. After all who was Aaron that they were complaining about him? Aaron and Moses were only doing what God told them to do. So that meant Korah and his group were revolting against God.

We have to be careful today, as believers, because we could be guilty of the same sin that Korah and his followers committed. That sin got all of them killed by God Himself. We might think that what we are doing is alright, because we think we know better than our leaders. However, the Bible makes it clear that God is One who chooses the leaders and gives them the authority to do His will. Therefore, whether it is the leaders of our country or our church, we need to refrain from complaining about them. We need to pray for them.

Yes, I know that there are no leaders who are perfect. We all have our strengths and weaknesses. We all sin, at times. However, since the leaders are ordained by God, He will lead them and guide them, if they are prayerfully trying to follow His will. If they are not, sensitive to the Lord, He will remove them in His timing and His way. Therefore, any complaining is not helpful, and it is actually revolting against God. There are many Biblical admonitions that teach this same truth, so let's all be careful in this area.
